From the Operations Desk: Staff Updates

Working in a rescue mission is challenging work. It requires the ability to adjust and
adapt to whatever and whomever. The stability of the mission depends largely on the stability of the staff.

During my time serving as operations manager at UCAN, I have lost 5 employees and have had 3 other hires that have not worked out. Not only does this put stress on the mission but it also demands more from the staff who are then tasked with holding things together. During this rough patch we continued to pray and ask God to send us workers who had the right temperament and commitment to serve in this
mission.

I am happy to report that since those days we have hired 6 new employees all of
which have been a huge benefit to the mission.

One of those has become a strong
reliable presence on 3rd shift.

One of those has become a strong reliable presence on Sunday mornings and also has become an advocate for guests by working with a statewide program.

One has become a strong reliable assistant to our Case worker who is able to step in when our case worker has to be away.

One is a previous employee that we were sorry to lose, who has jumped back in.

One who has been a strong presence in the community but felt like he wanted to be a part of what we were doing here at UCAN, and one is a previous guest of UCAN who believes in what we do and wanted to give back by serving as a part-time employee.

One of the most important things for the guests of UCAN is gaining consistency
and stability. Having a stable and consistent staff working together is a huge part of that.
I am thankful for our staff; those full-time and those part-time. They are the ones on the front lines. They are so important in what we do. It is very good to be in a better place with staffing.

Please encourage them, support them and pray for them as we carry on this work:)
